Free Apps to Make You More Productive

Do you struggle to try and get things done in a timely manner but find yourself taking longer than usual to complete seemingly basic tasks? Staying productive and managing your time carefully is no easy task. But thankfully there are countless apps available - many of which are completely free - that can help you stay on top of things.

Here is a list of some of the best free productivity apps that you can start using today.

Todoist

Todoist

Todoist is a simple and easy-to-use application that helps you organise and manage your daily to-do list. It’s a feature-rich application that allows you to organise and sort tasks, collaborate on projects with others, set due dates and reminders, and track your overall progress. It supports subtasks, sub-projects, recurring tasks, notifications and multiple priorities. With a free account you can work with up to five people on a project and manage up to 80 projects.

Pomodoro Tracker

Pomodoro Tracker

Pomodoro Tracker is a simple timer app based on the Pomodoro Technique that helps you manage your time, stay focused and finish tasks in a timely manner. You can integrate your to-do list from the Todoist app so you can set a timer for each task and mark it as complete all within the Pomodoro Tracker. The app also tracks your progress and has a range of other settings you can customise to your needs.

Google Calendar

Google Calendar

Google Calendar is one of the easiest to use and yet most often overlooked time management apps you’ll find. Use it to block off time for tasks and appointments, as well as to set reminders for things you need to do on a one-off or recurring basis. It’s cross-platform and lets you access your calendar and tasks from anywhere. It also works with a ton of other calendar and task management apps—and the whole Skillcrush office runs on it.

Evernote

Evernote

As a popular notes organizer and planner app, Evernote is a favorite for taking notes and organizing all of your ideas in one place. The app allows you to capture notes not just with writing, but also with photos, audio, digital sketches, PDFs, and more — and it's all instantly searchable (yes, even images!). Plus, you can sync all your notes across different devices for an easy way to keep it all on the go.

Trello

Trello

Trello is a simple, easy-to-use project management app for collaborative teams. Essentially, tasks are added and organised on “to-do,” “going” and “done” statuses, which helps teams keep track of progress. Tasks can be grouped into boards (the entire view above) and cards, which can contain multiple tasks in themselves. Individual tasks can be assigned to groups or team members with deadlines and checklists.

Slack

Slack

Slack is a messaging platform designed for teams and it’s the ideal communication tools for remote workers. Instant messaging is organised into channels, which team members can join and leave, as needed, so nobody receives messages or notifications irrelevant to them. Team members can also chat outside of main topics in separate threads which prevents these messages from interfering with the most project-centric conversations.

A great application is Kanban Tool (https://kanbantool.com/). It’s an extremely useful system for organizing tasks and projects. I use it daily to manage both my personal tasks and tasks assigned to me at work. In both cases it works great.
